Presentation: Scaffolding OER Co-authoring in Teacher Education: Towards a Contextually Responsive Training Model

Research themes: Open Educational Resources (OER) | Teacher Education | Open Educational Practices | Professional Development | Contextually Responsive Education

I will be presenting at EMASA 2026 on research exploring how teacher educators can be supported to engage meaningfully in the co-authoring of Open Educational Resources (OER).

My presentation, Scaffolding OER Co-authoring in Teacher Education: Towards a Contextually Responsive Training Model, focuses on moving beyond simply encouraging educators to use or create open resources. Instead, the work considers the forms of *scaffolding, capacity development and contextual support* that may be needed to enable meaningful and sustainable participation in OER co-authoring.

A central concern of the research is that approaches to open education cannot simply be transferred from one context to another. Teacher educators work within diverse institutional, technological, disciplinary and socio-economic environments, and professional development therefore needs to respond to these realities.

The presentation contributes towards the development of a *contextually responsive training model for OER co-authoring in teacher education*, with particular relevance to contexts where access, capacity and digital inequalities continue to shape participation in open educational practices.

” I look forward to engaging with colleagues at EMASA 2026 and to the conversations that will help further refine this work.”
